KINGSTON, Jamaica - Betting on English and Irish racing in Jamaica is returning to Caymanas Park and its over 100 Offtrack Betting Parlours with what the promoters of local racing, Supreme Ventures Racing & Entertainment Ltd (SVREL) says is a new experience in betting.

The following is the full presentation at a recent press conference by Chris Armond – director of racing at SVREL – explaining the new betting concept for English racing.

Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) will shortly be embarking on a new concept with English Racing which has never before been done with that product in Jamaica.
When the previous Promoting Company carried English Racing as part of their betting menu, they built their own pool which meant their pay outs were on most occasions different than what was paid out in England.
In the majority of instances these pay outs were less in the Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta pools offered in England. Where they were to capitalize was in the other exotic wagers such as the Quinella, Superfecta, Double Event and to a lesser extent in the Triple and Pick 5 pools which wagers are not sold in England, but when you had a field of let’s say 25 horses, they would have to offer #16 – 25 as the field or virtually one betting interest for 10 horses.
That will not happen this time as in a historic move SVREL will offer comingling on the pools that wagering is offered on in the English and Irish totes which are Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta. No longer 10 horses for one bet and much lower pay outs but the actual pay out in England.
In other words, when the previous Promoter sold #16 – 25 as one bet and number let’s say #20 won, because of the situation 10 horses for one bet was so attractive, the horse would let us say pay 2/1 in Jamaica. Overseas in England #20 was a 15/1 shot but because of the then situation punters in Jamaica got only 2/1. NO MORE – this time you will be getting 15/1 – what a difference.
That does not happen at our competitors.
They shave the odds. Recently at Southwell racecourse a winner went off at 6/1 and their payment on that winner was 20% less than 6/1.
When we start to offer English Racing to our customers, because we are comingling, our customers will be getting what the punter in England gets – that is 6/1. No shaving.
Again what a difference.
The pools our customers will be comingling into are Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta as those are the main pools offered in the English and Irish Totes, but SVREL will be offering Quinella, Superfecta, Double Event, Triple, Pick 4 and Pick 5 and will be building our own pools on those wagers.
Because of this our offering will be far more attractive than our competitors, who currently only offer the four main wagers in the English and Irish totes that of Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta and when you bet into those pools with us there will be no shaving of the dividends
So stand-by as very shortly English and Irish racing customers will now have an alternative offer which if I might say so myself will be far more attractive than anything they have ever had in Jamaica.
