KINGSTON, Jamaica – After leading from the off and then passed by Father Patrick (Omar Walker), Toona Ciliata responded well to the urgings of his jockey the wily Shane Ellis to land the 28th running of the Prince Consort Stakes (colts and geldings only) just moments ago at Caymanas Park.
Toona Ciliata trained by Anthony Nunes won the seven-furlong event in a time of 1:25.4 which was just a fifth of a second faster that the time recorded by Lady Blue in the Thornbird Stakes (fillies only) just two races before.
Toona Ciliata was regarded before the race as the lesser of the two main two-pronged attack by Nunes with the more favoured at 2-5, Earn Your Stripes was never in the hunt from the Prince Consort finishing in third spot.
