KINGSTON, Jamaica – The often-raced Drummer Boy provided champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and jockey Omar Walker with their second winner on the 10-race card at Caymanas Park a short while ago. The race was the Lindy Delapenha Memorial Trophy for Overnight Allowance horses.
Walker settled Drummer Boy just behind leader Uncle Vinnie and went ahead with four furlongs of the one-mile event left.
Then in the straight, Walker had to work hard to thwart the persistent challenge of Lici’s Pepsi by 1 ¾ lengths. Third went to Uncle Vinnie.
Drummer clocked a time of 1:40.0.
With this win, Drummer Boy brought his earnings to just over $5 million.
