KINGSTON, Jamaica – The victory by Double Crown in the Overnight Allowance call for the Liu Chie Poo Trophy at a mile was expected as the 1-2 favourite but the five-year-old had to dig deep to earn his sixth career success from 20 starts.

As soon as the gates opened, jockey Dane Dawkins had Double Crown on the front end but was quickly challenged by Ras Emanuel (Youville Pinnock) coming from the outside number seven post-position.

The race developed as a duel between the two with Dawkins allowing Ras Emanuel to go ahead by two to three lengths but Double Crown got a bit closer as they turned for home.

Ras Emanuel was still galloping well and at the furlong pole maintained the advantage. Then finally Double Crown got in gear and went by to score by 2 ½ lengths.

Ras Emanuel was second and Chinamax (Linton Steadman) third.
