KINGSTON, Jamaica – It came down to the final race where trainers Wayne DaCosta and Anthony Nunes had horses entered as Nunes still had a mathematical chance of winning by running first and second with Patriarch and Fayouz in any order in the day’s 10th race at Caymanas Park.

It did not happen, as a pulsating run by three-year-old Another Vigorous was good enough to win The Gladiator Trophy – an Open Allowance event over seven furlongs. Nunes did not earn at all while DaCosta got a smidgen when Mr Universe finished sixth.

Ridden by Dane Nelson, his third winner on the day, Another Vigorous was held off the pace before charging forward in the straight to win by 1 ¼ lengths in a time of 1:25.0 while recording splits of 22.4 x 45.3 x 1:10.0.

Second went to the very light Another Bullet (Daniel Satchell) at odds of 5-2.

Third was Hilly’s Halo (Dane Dawkins) who seemed to need the run at odds of 3-5.
