KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second leg of the Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL)-sponsored Triple Crown series of races for two-year-olds, the Pick-3 “Super” Challenge Trophy is set for Sunday, November 29 at Caymanas Park.

The seven-furlong (1,400m) event, which carries a purse of $3.6 million, has attracted six runners.

  1. SIR JOHN: (2 b c by Natural Selection – Luscious) – Finished 3 ½ lengths behind the impressive-looking Calculus on debut travelling six furlongs (1,200m) just seven days ago. Sir John now faces winners and is sure to benefit from the experience.

  2. FURTHER AND BEYOND: (2 ch c by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Well-bred and talented colt who was not at his best on November 14 when finishing third behind stable companions Go Deh Girl and Hoist The Mast in a 5 ½ furlongs contest. Further and Beyond scored his maiden win on October 24 coming from off the pace at six furlongs in a time of 1:12.4. Now stretched out even longer at seven furlongs, Further and Beyond should be making his challenge in the final part of this trophy race. Further and Beyond is well primed and the journey is right.

  3. HOIST THE MAST: (2 ch f by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Opulent) – Hoist The Mast has finished second in her last two starts. She went down fighting at 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on November 14, losing out by a neck to her stable companion and American-bred Go Deh Girl in a fast time of 1:06.1 after being in the busy pace from the off. Hoist The Mast should not be bothered by this extended trip and will run her honest race as usual but has to be judiciously ridden to have a chance of winning.

  4. DEN STREET: (2 b c by Northern Giant – All For Pleasure) – Unbeaten in three career starts thus far. Den Street came from far behind to nip Hoist The Mast and She’s A Wonder to win the November 1 Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy over six furlongs. Den Street’s final time of 1:14.1 was nothing to write home about, he showed the qualities of grit and determination which are necessary to win trophy races like this one. Based on his past efforts, Den Street is going to enjoy this seven-furlong trip as he seeks a fourth consecutive victory.

  5. SANTORINI: (2 ch c by Soul Warrior - Milestone) – Was an impressive winner on debut in the Rhoel Rhoden Memorial Trophy over 5 1/2 furlongs on October 17. Santorini came from behind to win by 1 ¼ lengths in a time of 1:07.0 but gave nothing in the Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy when he finished in fourth place. Santorini is another one who is going to love this extended distance and given that he has looked a different horse at exercise in the mornings, is one of the closers in the race to watch. Note the blinkers are off and the visor on.

  6. SHE’S A WONDER: (2 b f by Bern Identity – Jamaican Dream) – Was most impressive winner of the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup over seven furlongs on November 13. Then She’s A Wonder won by six lengths in a time of 1:25.4 which suggests that she is ready and well-tuned for her assignment on Sunday. A repeat of that performance could see She’s A Wonder battling for top honours but she has to be well rated by her rider to be at her efficient best.
