KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took all of seven races for leading jockey Anthony Thomas to sign off on his first winner, the Colin Ferguson trained De Inevitable in the Caymanas Monday seventh.

Racing in a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) offering over a trip of seven furlongs, Thomas wasted little time is pushing De Inevitable to the lead coming from the outside draw.

De Inevitable was followed throughout by Don Almighty (Shane Ellis) with the rest of the field floundering behind. Ellis then decided it was time to wrestle for the lead leaving the three and was actually ahead when the two horses entered the straight for the final two furlongs.

Thomas on the inside dug deep into his reserves and De Inevitable responded by gathering momentum to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Sweet Surprise (Roger Hewitt) finished third.
