KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing for only the second time, Code of Honor a three-year-old dark bay filly by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Code Star ridden by veteran Shane Ellis made it a perfect two from two when together they won the third race with aplomb on the Labour Day 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Ellis watched proceedings in second as Roy Rogers set the splits with Christopher Mamdeen in the saddle in the one-mile Restricted Allowance 11 for three-year-olds non-winners of two run over a mile. Then after four furlongs, Ellis pushed the filly forward and she responded with a burst of speed and held her gallop extremely well in straight.
It was a most encouraging run by Code of Honour a fact Ellis acknowledged after the race: “This is a good filly, and we don’t really know how good she really is. The way she won today suggests she can go longer but in time she will display his true qualities.”
Code of Honor was a 9-1 chance thereby causing more distress for the form players while 6-5 Dyna’s Pride was second and 6-1 Cryptocurrency third.
The winning time was an encouraging 1:39.3.
