KINGSTON, Jamaica – Leading rider Christopher Mamdeen made good use of a chance ride on Donate to win the Kenneth Mattis Memorial Trophy run over 10 furlongs, the fourth race on the Saturday card at Caymanas Park.

Replacing colleague apprentice Tevin Foster in the saddle, Mamdeen settled Dontae trained by Anthony Nunes in mid-pack of the eight runners in the event as Radical and then Uncle Vinnie led the field in the Non-Restricted Overnight Allowance contest.

Although going wide at the top of the lane, Dontae rallied strongly to beat Uncle Vinnie and Fayrouz.

Following a stewards’ inquiry, Fayrouz was disqualified from third for causing interference to Messi and was placed fifth.

Dontae won at odds of 5-2 to give Mamdeen his second winner in the four races run so far on the programme.
