Brandy provides the spirit for DaCosta’s fiver, leads Nunes by over $1.5 m

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Coming from well off the pace on the inside rails, Brandy was brought was a scorching stretch run by now champion jockey Anthony Thomas to win the nightcap, the Seymour “Foggy” Mullings Memorial Cup over a mile just minutes ago at Caymanas Park. Brandy won at odds of 7-2.

It was the fifth winner on the day for DaCosta which allowed him to take a good but not insurmountable lead over Anthony Nunes with two race days to come including the big Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes which carries a total purse of $4 million.

Thomas for his part is now 11 wins clear of his nearest rival Dick Cardenas.

Second was My Super Girl going long for the first time with Oneil Mullings aboard at odds of 3-1.

Third was the domain of Harry’s Train and jockey Omar Walker at 8-1.

Brandy covered the one mile in a time of 1:40.2.
