This year 2022 was the first time in over 50 years I saw the three top horses in the Jamaica Derby being ridden by apprentice riders. That signals the quality of these riders and the lack of experience at this time in their careers.

Why Jamaica's jockeys like to whip horses so much? Why didn't he used his head and see that he had the race won.. and used his hands and heels to get the horse home!!! Some of our jockeys needs to go abroad and learn to ride properly!!! Learn how to use the whip and when not to use the whip and just hands and heels alone!!! Our jockeys depend on the whip too much!!! And beat the horses down to the ground..it should be 1,2 -1,2 switch to the other hand and stop beating the horse on one side!!! Sometimes I am sorry for the poor horses..oonuh fi learn fi ride properly and professionally too mediocre riding!!!

Well said, I couldn't have said it any better. It is high time that the powers that be in Jamaican racing put measures in place to address this mediocrity of the overuse of the whip. No wonder this sport is being looked at, in some circles, as animal cruelty

Agreed 100%, the powers in racing should implement stringent measures on how many times a horse (horses) can be whipped. I have seen a maiden race going over the 5 straight course with J Jackson going overweight on his mount, carried 60.5 KG, the man whipped the poor horse from the off to the winning post...I do not know why they allowed him to continue to ride let alone the all those riders who rely on their whips.

Dane Atomica is better than you are the horse was already 10 lengths in front and you still using the whip why.

So true every comment Abt over use if the whip by our jockeys it's senseless it's like they are dummies horse leading by more than two lengths and you want see them beating the hell out of the animals so unprofessional just balance hands and heels
