KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Thornbird Stakes (fillies only) and the Prince Consort (colts and geldings) are now done and dusted with Lady Blue and Toona Ciliata coming up trumps for their various connections.
With both races run over seven furlongs (1,400 metres), Lady Blue confirmed her position as one of the leading lights heading towards the 1000 Guineas (one mile – fillies only) on April 13.
The disappointment in the race was the heavily backed Corazon who was never in the race finishing fourth. There is still time with just over three weeks left for her Classic date.
Princess Ava who finished second surprised many and now is a live shot for the 1000.
In the Prince Consort, Toona Ciliata bubbled class with a defining run while his more favoured stablemate Earn Your Stripes simply did not do as expected.
They may, however, all have to play second fiddle to the super talented Supreme Soul in the 2000 Guineas (colts and geldings only).
Let’s wait and see.
