KINGSTON, Jamaica – Above and Beyond, a three-year-old chestnut filly by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble moved to the favourite’s position to win the 1000 Guineas following a commanding run just moments ago in the BGLC/TOBA sponsored series of races at Caymanas Park.

Racing for the first time this year after suffering from sore shins at the back-end of last year, Above and Beyond ridden by Dane Nelson and trained by Anthony Nunes tracked the early leaders Nipster (Anthony Thomas – 1-1) and Task Force (Dane Dawkins – 52-1) for the first four furlongs of the one-mile event.

Leaving the half-mile pole, Above and Beyond was almost level with Task Force but when they entered the straight, the filly pressed on her class to romp home by 6 ½ lengths in a final time of 1:39.3.

Nipster racing for the first time under the care of trainer Gary Subratie was second with DenDen third.

This was the second winner on the Saturday card for both Nunes and Nelson.
