Abogado disqualified as rider Kiaman McGregor falls out of saddle, seconds before reaching winning post

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Abogado (9-5) after going by the post in front, but with his rider, apprentice Kiaman McGregor falling from the saddle nanoseconds before reaching the finish, the stewards of the race meeting were left with no choice but to disqualify the winner.
The Rules of Racing clearly states that a jockey must be in the saddle when passing the winning post and as such, in this instance, Abogado was disqualified and placed out of the race.
Fortunately, McGregor was unhurt and can consider himself quite luck and while on the ground, he was passed by several horses without getting a touch.
