KINGSTON, Jamaica – The final leg of the Reggae 6 proved to be the most demanding following the 62-1 victory by the Ryan Darby trained, Oneil Mullings ridden Casual Affair at rasping odds of 62-1.
This major upset by Casual Affair came in the Caymanas Sunday sixth; a three-year-old and upwards Claiming ($750,000 - $700,000) contest coming down the five straight course. Of note is that Casual Affair was the longest shot on the board.
It was Gentle Giant (Anthony Thomas) moving from gate three to the middle of the track who set the early spits, with Sir Kel (Chris Mamdeen) lurking nearby.
On the racetrack proper Mullings got Casual Affair going with Acero (on the outside) with Tevin Foster in the saddle emerging as the main rival.
Casual Affair had more than enough to thwart Acero by 1 ½ lengths. Sir Kel finished third.
