Power Ranking
Power Ranking
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh event on the Saturday card of Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Caymanas Park is slated for three-year-olds and upwards locally bred horses (non-winners of four) and for three-year-olds and upwards foreigners (non-winners of three). The distance is five furlongs round. Nine horses, three foreigners, and six locally bred are in this contest.
THE QUICK GALLOPER assessment of the nine starters is provided below.

1 – POWER RANKING is a bay colt (March 8) by Casual Trick out of Escandalosa trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins aboard. Power Ranking is the only horse in this race with three wins, achieved from nine starts. The last of those victories was 13 days ago (6 ½ furlongs), with Power Ranking showing much improvement. He has gone up in the weights but the mere fact that he is a winner of three races gives him firepower in this one.

2 – MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA) is a dark bay filly (January 22) by Joe’s Son Joey out of Madelyn’s Finest trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas aboard. This imported filly has won two of her three races to date. Madelyn’s Sunshine tasted defeat for the first occasion 63 days ago when humbled by Emperorofthecats and Yellowstone going 5 ½ furlongs. On Saturday, the handicaps are about the same for Madelyn’s Sunshine and Yellowstone with the shorter distance more in favour of Madelyn’s Sunshine.

3 – GOLIATH THE GREAT is a grey colt (March 1) by Midnight Hawk out of Luminous Trieste trained by Robert Pearson with Reyan Lewis aboard. This grey colt has the tendency of behaving badly while at the gates. It is noticeable that his trainer has fitted him with the blinkers for this engagement. Goliath The Great is said to be working well in the mornings with the blinkers on.  Note, Goliath The Great races with the blinkers on.

4 – AWESOME RICH is a bay colt (April 30) by Northern Giant out of Awesome Camille trained by Steven Todd with Shavon Townsend aboard. Difficult to see Awesome Rich winning this one.

5 – TALONA (USA) is a dark bay filly (April 27) by Bayern out of To My Delight trained by Philip Feanny with Omar Walker aboard. This foreigner makes an appearance after a break of 154 days. With one win from three starts, Talona will have to wait even with reports that she is moving smoothly at exercise.

6 – LUKSOL (USA) is a bay filly (March 2) by Tapiture out of Stunning Taste trained by Jason DaCosta with Jerome Innis aboard. Luksol has won one race from 12 starts. She has speed and will influence this contest in the early stages and with the trip much more to her liking, Luksol can spring a surprise.

7 – BUGATTI is a bay colt (March 24) by Casual Trick out of Charmin Diaz trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. Bugatti is getting acquainted with this grouping.

8 – LACRIMAE is a grey filly (March 10) by Savoy Stomp out Pleasant Ending trained by Philip Feanny with Jordan Barrett aboard. Did not have to do much seven days ago when winning her second race from seven starts. Lacrimae was problematic at the gates in that encounter and must get a clean break to be successful among these.

9 – YELLOWSTONE is a chestnut gelding (May 6) by Sensational Slam out of Awry trained by Alford Brown with Dick Cardenas aboard. This chestnut gelding has been progressing well. Meets Power Ranking again, this time on slightly better terms. Yellowstone is consistent and that consistency may well prove to be good enough to win this prize. Note, Yellowstone races with the figure 8.
