KINGSTON, Jamaica – Last week there were two maiden races for three-year-olds down the straight (four furlongs), this week Saturday (August 6), there is one such race and again over the straight (five furlongs).
This maiden contest has 10 starters.
THE QUICK GALLOPER provides the analysis below.
1 – MICKEY C is grey colt (April 11) by Savoy Stomp out of Miss Lee trained by Al Brown with Oshane Nugent in the irons. Mickey C races for the first time and as such needs time.
2 – THE GIFTED ONE (bay colt {May 3} by Buzz Nightmare out of Venice Mellesa). Has been far behind in his three starts to date. Nothing more is expected.
3 – HA GOW SUI MEI (bay colt {February 23) by Sensational Slam out of Gaining Traction). Returns from a long break of 210 days having faced the starter on January 8, 2022. Ha Gow Sui Mei has raced three times before, finishing second in those races. His trainer, who brought back Rubyistheone a winner under similar circumstances a week ago, has been patiently prepared by his trainer and with an ordinary set of rivals, Ha Gow Sui Mei is close to being another three-year-old winner for trainer Nunes.
4 – DUJOUR (dark bay filly {March 21} by Force De Jour out of First Kiss) – Was caught in the final furlong by Rubyistheone (July 30). On that occasion, Dujour was drawn at one, yet his jockey decided to push across to mid-track and beyond. On Saturday, Dujour is drawn at four, giving her a glorious chance of winning after 14 starts.
5 – ONE LIKE IT (chestnut colt {January 28) by Deputy Glitters out of Sanbath). Another one coming off a long break (132 days). One Like It has been put through his paces at exercise, to enter his Saturday assignment fit and ready. Note, One Like It races with the tongue tie off and the figure 8 on.
6 – KETURAH (bay filly {April 14} by Legal Process out of Kalamata). Ran surprisingly well just five days ago. Can be the outsider.
7 – LADY JOYCE (roan filly {March 20) by Midnight Hawk out of Winningitis). Still learning her trade.
8 – SNEAKY JOE (bay colt {April 29) by Sensational Slam out of Lady Jameela). Not ready yet. Note, Sneaky Joe races with the visor off.
9 – JOE (chestnut colt {April 21} by Legal Process out of Lady Jameela). Coming to come, not ready at this time.
10 – SPECIAL GIFT (bay colt {May 15} by Soul Warrior out of Finally Ritta). Made a worthy debut seven days ago, but needs more time. Special Gift will shortly find the winning post in due time.
