21 new apprentices enter the Jockeys’ Training School for six-month course

The selected list of 21 candidates for Batch Two of the Jockeys’ Training Programme of 2018/9 commenced their training at the Jockeys’ Training School, on Monday, February 18.
The Jockeys’ School is operated by the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC).
They [apprentices] were given an opportunity to showcase their talent in the saddle in what was dubbed at the ‘gate test’ a week Tuesday to finalise the selection process.
During the course of last week, the candidates and their parents or family members met with representative of the JRC including chairman Clovis Metcalfe, members of the stewards’ panel and the commission’s welfare officers.
