KINGSTON, Jamaica – Veteran jockey Shane Ellis was at his very best in the fourth as under an astute ride he guided home the Fitznahum Williams trained XY Soul to a maiden victory in the fourth race at Caymanas Park.

In the 9 furlongs and 25 yards contest for three-year-old maidens, Ellis watched from behind the leaders down the backstretch before moving off on his winning run with 3 ½ furlongs left in the race.

XY Soul and Ellis were tracked from the three-furlong point by 4-5 favourite Big Big Daddy (Robert Halledeen).

The two locked together at the top of the straight before Ellis pushed on to win by six lengths. War of the Roses (Omar Walker – 8/1) pipped Big Big Daddy for third.
