KINGSTON, Jamaica – Journeyman jockey Devon A Thomas continued his recent streak of winning on outsiders when he fought hard to win on the Wayne DaCosta trained Loose Ball at odds of 12-1 in the Caymanas Saturday eighth which was run over 6 ½ furlongs.
Thomas waited in mid-pack as the lead switched around several horses before Rum With Me (Dane Dawkins) from an outside draw swooped to take over.
In the straight, Rum With Me faltered quickly as Silent Seeker (Javaniel Patterson) another from the DaCosta shed row gained the ascendency with Loose Ball the only horse in the race to win three races lifetime making his run against the inside rails.
Pushing and pushing with great determination as if his life depended on it, Thomas rallied Loose Ball who got up to nip stablemate Silent Seeker. Oneofakind (Dane Nelson) was third.
Loose Ball was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
The winning time was 1:10.0.
