KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ever since the return of Dane Nelson in October of last year, he has built a strong winning partnership with champion trainer Anthony Nunes.
The two were again in the winners’ enclosure with K J Express after the five-year-old roan gelding under a bustling ride held on to win the second of today’s nine races at Caymanas Park over Mr Universe (Romario Spencer), by a neck.
Competing in a $550,000 - $500,000 claiming event run over five furlongs round, the usually speedy Mr Universe (Romario Spencer) missed the break and raced in last position for most of the race.
During this time Nelson kept K J Express in third before taking over at the top of the lane.
Mr Universe rallied with a late push but it was a little just too late. A poor ride by the apprentice.
Third was Mr Ambassador.
Both K J Express and My Universe were claimed.
