KINGSTON, Jamaica – Rusty, after five starts mainly over the shorter distances, made his presence among the better juveniles thus far with a noticeable victory over a mile in the Caymanas Saturday seventh.

Rusty won the annual renewal of the Andrew H B Aguilar Memorial Cup for two-year-olds just moments ago.

Ridden by Anthony Thomas and trained by Wayne DaCosta, Rusty went straight to the front and after being harassed for most of the way by Leo (Dick Cardenas) had to fight off Katalina (Raddesh Roman) before pulling away for the win by 2 ¼ lengths. Katalina was second and Nuclear Noon (Robert Halledeen) was third.

The winning time was a noteworthy 1:40.0.

This was the second winner on the card so far for Thomas who was successful in the race before on Isinbayeva. He is now five wins ahead of closest rival Dane Nelson having started the day four wins ahead.
