KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hoist the Mast – a two-year-old chestnut filly by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Opulent was a winner first time out in a four-straight encounter for two-year-olds. This was the third race on the Caymanas Park programme for Saturday, September 19.

After giving loads of trouble to enter the starting gates, Hoist the Mast ridden by Dick Cardenas for trainer Anthony Nunes went straight to the lead and although persistently tracked by the prohibitive 1-9 favourite She’s A Wonder (Dane Dawkins), in what was a match race, Hoist the Mast got the job done by a nose.

Third went to Sure Curlin, in a race where all eight starters were first timers.

Hoist the Mast clocked 46.1 for the distance.
