KINGSTON, Jamaica – Wow Wow gave the performance of a lifetime to win the 2000 Guineas Classic (one mile) earlier today at Caymanas Park.

When the starter opened the gates, it was Mahogany (Dane Dawkins) who swiftly shot into the lead while Robert Halledeen on Wow Wow was with the first bunch of horses behind Mahogany.

Leaving the four-furlong marker Mahogany injected a lot more pace to increase his lead by over six lengths setting a half mile split of a fast 45.0.

Wow Wow and Halledeen started to really engage with 3 ½ furlongs to go and surely and with intent started to mow into the leader.

In the straight, Mahogany was not giving an inch as Wow Wow drew level and then the class stepped in and Wow Wow found gear number 7 pulling away to win by three lengths.

The time recorded was 1:37.3. As a comparison, yesterday Above and Beyond ran 1:38.4 in winning the 1000 Guineas.

Second went to Mahogany who lost no marks in defeat with Double Crown third.

Wow Wow is trained by Gary Subratie who was winning his second 2000 Guineas while owner breeder Michael Bernard was winning his first.

Halledeen was winning his third 2000 Guineas.
