KINGSTON, Jamaica - After being badly interfered with on last, three-year-old bay colt Rojorn Di Pilot returned with vengeance to slam rivals by 1 ¾ lengths in a Restricted Stakes event on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

On September 28, Rojorn Di Pilot (Liquidity – I’m Magic) was in a striking position with four furlongs left in the race but got interfered with and never recovered, finishing in 11th place by 7 ¾ lengths behind Roy Rogers over 6 furlongs (1,200m).

Reverting over the five-straight course (Saturday, October 12) and with Omar Walker in the saddle, Rojorn Di Pilot got home in a time of 59.3.

It was an even break for most runners but as the field settled after the first furlong (200m), Bold Aflair (Ameth Robles), Nuclear Evita (Dane Dawkins) and Rojorn Di Pilot disputed the lead.

Coming across the dummy rails, Duke (Robert Halledeen) got into the mix and came away with Rojorn Di Pilot with a furlong to go, but Rojorn Di Pilot proved the stronger of the two and edged away for the win.

Duke was second with Bold Aflair finishing third.

“Rojorn Di Pilot was interfered with badly in his last race when he was hit out from third place to second to last.

“The stewards never saw it fitting to disqualify the winner who interfered badly with him [Rojorn Di Pilot] and this is retribution,” trainer Wayne DaCosta stated.

The trainer continued: “Rojorn Di Pilot has one more restricted Stakes and so he will be running there. I think he will eventually reach the Overnight Allowance level and maybe Open Allowance.”

The race itself was hampered when the jockey aboard Prince Charles, Shane Ellis fell from his mount shortly after the gates opened.
