KINGSTON, Jamaica – It has been a while since trainer Richard Azan has landed a winner.

That drought of winners ended in today’s (Sunday, July 5) third race when Laban (Sensational Slam – For Trixie) defeated his nine rivals in a three-year-old maiden contest going five furlongs round.

With the imperious Dane Dawkins in the saddle, Laban kept on the outside of 1-5 on leader Generation (Shane Ellis replacing Dane Nelson).

Entering the straight both horses were locked together, then Laban and Dawkins came to the fore, pulling away for a 2 1/4 – length victory.

The final time on what is a slow track was a commendable 1:00.3.

Generational was second with Lava Boy getting the third position after the disqualification of third by the post Adore Brilliance.
