KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reigning champion jockey Christopher Mamdeen rode only his 10th winner for this season when he brought the Ian Alexander trained Band of Gold from well of the pace to claim victory in the Caymanas Sunday seventh.

Band of Gold’s victory in the $360,000 - $300,000 claimer (6 ½ furlongs) was made possible mainly because of the harassing speed duel on the headlines between 1-5 on favourite Storm Valley (Paul Francis) and Sir Arjun Babu.

Sitting well behind the speed duo, Mamdeen waited as the leaders came back in the final furlong to sweep by with ease. Band of Gold won by 2 ½ lengths.

Storm Valley was second and Meet Justin (Orlando Foster) was third.
