KINGSTON, Jamaica – Polly B got the 11-race 1000 Guineas race day off and running by winning the first at enticing odds of 8-1.

The race won by Polly B ridden by Raddesh Roman and trained by Dennis Pryce came in an Optional Claimer – $850,000 – $800,000.

When the gates opened in the 5 ½ furlongs contest, Roman pushed Polly B straight to the front and never relinquished the lead afterwards.

The bay gelding was tiring in the last furlong but by then had done enough to beat Mr Universe (Kiaman McGregor) by 1 ½ lengths.

Third went to Lala Diva (Aaron Chatrie).
