KINGSTON, Jamaica – It has been a long and arduous road for the Wayne DaCosta trained filly Elitist.

After 23 starts and earnings of just over $1.2 million, Elitist found the winning post in front to release the maiden tag on her 24th attempt.

That was in the sixth Caymanas Sunday event and was a maiden special weight for three-year-olds fillies travelling the distance of six furlongs.

Ridden by the in-form Anthony Thomas, Elitist drawn at 15 in a field of 15 runners was waited on as Triple Seven (Raddesh Roman) and Fascination (Calvin Bailey) vied for supremacy on the front end.

In the straight, Thomas got Elitist rolling after switching from the middle of the track to the inside rails.

Then there was never any doubt as Elitist moved away to claim victory by 2 ¼ lengths.

SheBoom (Dick Cardenas) came on strong to finish in second place with Azul (Tevin Foster) third.

The winning time was 1:14.2.

Elitist was the second winner on the day for Thomas.
