DISTANCE – Six furlongs

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hoist The Mast starting at odds of 3-2 defeated his previously unbeaten stable company Go Deh Girl (3-5 on) ridden by Dane Nelson in the Caymanas Sunday seventh.

The race was held up for a while when Nelson was apparently injured in the starting gates by a fractious Go Deh Girl. Nelson could be seen ‘running off’ the injury before remounting.

At the off Omar Walker on Hoist The Mast allowed Go Deh Girl to set fast early fractions of 22.3 x 45.3.

Hoist The Mast trained by champion Anthony Nunes then made his move with two and a half furlongs to go - entering the straight with the advantage as Walker did the wise thing by holding the natural speed of his mount.

In the stretch drive, Go Deh Girl could find nothing more as Hoist The Mast kept on going with a strong gallop.

Nunes completed the trifecta as Calculus (Oshane Nugent) was third.

For jockey Walker it was his second win on the day and his fourth over the weekend of racing dubbed the Summit of Speed.
