KINGSTON, Jamaica – US bred Eroy after six tries found a path to the winners’ enclosure in the first of eight races on the mid-week card at Caymanas Park.

Judiciously ridden by rising apprentice Anthony Allen and trained by Richard Azan, Eroy won a Restricted Allowance event contested at a distance of nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Starting as a 5-2 betting option, Eroy was not the best away when the gates opened but picked up ground down the backstretch as Olde Wharf (Conrod Ellis – 11-1) and My Time Now (Omar Walker – 13-1) vied for the lead.

Bennett got Elroy going leading the five-furlong marker – taking over the lead from then, after which the race was wrapped up.

Tomohawk (Kiaman McGregor) the bulging 1-9 favourite was never in the race, but came on to finish second with My Time Now in the third spot.

The winning time running into a strong headwind was a slow 2:00.3.
