KINGSTON, Jamaica – The last time Loose Ball won was on July 11 doing so at odds of 47-1 over five the five straight course.

Today stepping up in grade (non-winners of three) again travelling five furlongs straight, Loose Ball showed his likeness for the distance winning this time at odds of 12-1.

Ridden by regular partner apprentice Raddesh Roman, Loose Ball did not go to the outside rails which is customary in a straight race opting instead to run on the inside.

Loose Ball, trained by Wayne DaCosta galloped resolutely over the last two furlongs as the early leaders She’s A Hit (Omar Walker) and Sir Alton (Carlos Blake) started faltered.

Solid Approach (Kiaman McGregor) glued to the outside rails posed the challenge in the final furlong but Loose got home by a neck.

Custer (Dick Cardenas) was third.

The winning time was 58.3.

Loose Ball provided trainer DaCosta with his second winner on today’s programme.
