KINGSTON, Jamaica – It simply had to happen. After seven races with the favoured horses having the ascendency, the upset came in the eighth race in the form of Dallas.

Dallas ridden by apprentice Raddesh Roman and trained by Anthony won a Restricted Allowance IV for five-year-olds and upwards run over seven furlongs at screaming odds of 34-1, paying the substantial sum of $1,780.00 to win.

The connections of Dallas had to survive a long stewards’ inquiry before the event was declared official.

Second went to long-time leader Christilano (Paul Francis 8-1) with 16-1 shot Hot Ice coming in third.

The exacta paid $53,947 and for the first time in a while there was a carryover of $115,854.95 in trifecta.
