Co-champion Anthony Thomas gets off the mark as Purple Wayne is an easy winner of Caymanas Saturday second

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The joint jockeys’ champion for 2020 Anthony Thomas ticked off his first win for 2021 when he piloted Purple Wayne to victory in the Caymanas Saturday second just moments ago.

Thomas was patient on the Robert Pearson trained Purple Wayne as Milkman set off in front setting splits of 24.0 x 47.0 x 1:12.2.

The odds-on 1-2 favourite Royal Vibes (Paul Francis) recovered from a poor break to join Purple Wayne in second with three furlongs to go as Milkman carried on at a merry clip.

Turning for home Purple Wayne accelerated quickly and the race was over for the others. Purple Wayne won by seven lengths with Lazer Light (Oshane Nugent) coming on for second as Milkman finished third.

The win by Purple Wayne was his fourth from 24 career starts.
