KINGSTON, Jamaica – American importee Chitu Prince broke the trend of favourites winning thus far on today’s 11-race offering at Caymanas Park with a 6-1 victory in the fifth event.

Ridden by apprentice Roger Hewitt and trained by Marvin Campbell, Chitu Prince clung to the inside rails as if pasted to it and although challenged throughout by 1-2 favourite Salvation (Nicholas Hibbert) had enough to thwart the challenge.

Chitu Prince won by 1 ½ lengths with Salvation second and Casual Affair (Anthony Thomas) in the third slot.

Chitu Prince was winning for the first time after 10 career starts on the local track while it was a long overdue second victory this year for  trainer Campbell.

Apprentice was on his second winner on the day.
