Blistering Acero sparkles in Caymanas Wednesday fifth

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Acero, a three-year-old chestnut colt by Lion Tamer – Electrifying sent shocks of excitement through his connections with a blistering win in the Caymanas Wednesday fifth – the Mercury Sprint.

Acero trained by champion Anthony Nunes and ridden by Shane Richardson, a late replacement for Richard Reid, stayed with the leaders for the first two furlongs and then accelerated with purpose on the inside rails to leave all rivals in his wake.

In this impressive performance, Acero, a half-brother to Patriarch and Universal Boss clocked a fast 58.3 with blazing splits of 22.3 x 45.3.

Acero’s final time was one second faster than the time done by the filly Mum just a race before.

Father Riel (Bebeto Harvey) was second, and Vanquisher (Shane Ellis) finished third.
