KINGSTON, Jamaica – The tussle for championship honours between jockeys Anthony Thomas and Dane Nelson is continuing unabated, much to the delight of punters at the track and the many off track betting parlours.

In the second race on today’s (Sept 19) card at Caymanas Park – nine furlongs and 25 yards call for four-year-olds and upwards – Thomas and Nelson clashed once more, with the former on the Marlon Anderson trained Thunderstrike and Nelson on Lady Rattapur.

Travelling down the backstretch after rounding the clubhouse turn, Thomas and Thunderstrike went to lead and was consistently harassed by Nelson and Lady Rattapur as they separated themselves for the rest of the pack.

In the stretch, both riders were working hard on their mounts as the winning post approached but on the day, Thunderstrike and Thomas proved too strong for Lady Rattapur and Nelson.

Third was Black Royalty (Tevin Foster).

The Marlon Anderson trainee clocked a winning time of 2:01.4 for the distance.

This was the second winner this term for Anderson.
