KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a stirring duel yesterday (September 12) between Anthony Thomas (Sir Kel) and Dane Nelson (Truly Amazing), Nelson was victorious.

Atop Chinamax for trainer Tensang Chung in a Restricted Allowance 1V for four-year-olds non-winner of four run over nine furlongs and 25 yards, Thomas stayed behind the pace setters El Gringo (Oshane Nugent), Black River (Samantha Fletcher) and Ali (Reyan Lewis).

At this stage San Siro (Nelson) was fourth with Chinamax floating along in fifth.

With four furlongs left in the race, Ali made a move as did Chinamax with the latter turning for home in a threatening position.

Thomas quickly locked off the inside rails as Nelson sought to bring San Siro forward using this route.

The two top jockeys battled for about half-a-furlong and then Thomas and Chinamax progressed beyond reach to win by 6 ½ lengths.

San Siro was second and Black River third.

The winning time was 1:55.4.
