KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing for the first time after being claimed for trainer Ryan Darby, Anaso fought gallantly to win the Caymanas Saturday second at crushing odds of 28 to one.

Jockey Paul Francis put Anaso straight to the lead but was soon swooped on by the speedy Mr Universe (Tevin Foster).

Mr Universe carried the horses in the lane for the final two furlongs with Anaso breathing down his neck.

In a stirring stretch duel involving Anaso and Mr Universe with the former coming across just a bit on the latter who was positioned on the inside rails.

After a stewards’ inquiry and a jockey’s objection by Foster, the stewards ruled that there was no interference making Anaso the winner.

Third was the 1-5 favourite Prince Charles who suffered from a poor start and who had traffic issues while circling the first bend.
