KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Anthony Thomas is making Sundays his preferred day of the week.
Today (Sunday, October 4), Thomas rode a five timer just as he did last week Sunday.
The closing of today’s five timer for Thomas came in the Overnight Allowance night cap for three-year-olds and upwards – going six furlongs on the Wayne DaCosta trained Sir Alton.
When the gates opened it was Formal Gladiator (Delroy Beharie) who decided to go to the lead with Sir Alton close by.
Sir Alton would have none of it and with his long loping strides took over and accelerated in the straight to win by five lengths in fast time of 1:10.2. Sir Alton splits were 22.2 x 45.4 under a hand ride effort by Thomas.
Truly Amazing was second and Enuffisenuff third.
Thomas now leads Dane Nelson by 13 in the race for the trainers’ championship.
